The Senior Ladies saw good start to their Division 1 league campaign. Opposition, Naomh Maur made the long journey over from
Rush, happy that traffic was a little bit lighter during the Easter break on the dreaded M50! The weather was more favourable than it been for the previous evening’s Camogie fixtures – with many of the dual players having to put on the damp boots from the previous night.

Maurs got off to the better start, taking the first couple of points, before Boden got their first point of the game. Maurs then got the first goal of the match while the accuracy at the other end from Boden was not where they wanted it to be. A goal for Boden was crucial to keep things close and then with another goal and point before half time they went into the break with a lead.

HT Ballyboden 2-3 Naomh Maur 1-3

The second half continued tight with points exchanged. Then the Ballyboden ladies hit a purple patch where the play started to click with some fresh legs introduced. They clocked up 2-5 in the middle 10
minutes of the half to just a single point from Maurs. With the game seemingly safe, Boden were dealt a blow going down to 14 players with an injury having made all 5 substitutions. Keeping ball was the game plan for the last 10 minutes + lengthy injury time. This was done effectively except for a few breaches where Maurs turned the ball over for a couple of scores. A couple of nervous moments but the Boden Ladies managed to see out the victory to sit top of the table.
