Senior B team keep up winning ways

Towers hosted this AHL 3 game in one of Dublin’s finest venues.  A perfect pitch was a fitting setting on a beautiful, if chilly, Spring evening.   Boden elected to play with the wind in the first half and went in at half time leading 1 07 to 0 06.  Despite being well in control, Boden allowed Towers to stay in the game by giving away easy frees. All Towers scores in the first half came from placed balls.  If it were not for a soft goal before just before half time, the lead would have been the bare minimum.  Malachy Travers will claim the goal but his speculative shot from near midfield was fumbled by the keeper.

Boden were given a cushion straight after the break with a fine goal from Eoin McKenna after he was set up by the impressive Rónan Cleary. Rónan himself bagged one mid way through the half to put the game beyond doubt.

Towers will need to improve their scoring rate if they are to make progress in this league as they only scored once from play in 60 mins. The Boden full back line can take some credit for this as they never looked troubled at any stage.

This is Boden’s third win on the trot and now go into their Championship game against Naomh Barróg next week with some confidence. However, the number of frees conceded in this game will be a cause of concern. Thirteen frees in the first half kept Towers in the game. To Boden’s credit this did improve somewhat in the second half and will need to be maintained going forward.

The team on the night was as follows:
