Earlier this month our newly appointed Coaching team ran a series of seminars in Goalkeeping and Freetaking, in mixed groups of boys & girls, in Football, Hurling and Camogie, focusing on the two age ranges of U12-U14 and U15-U16 .
In advance of the sessions, each team was asked to nominate a goalkeeper and a freetaker to take part. Coaches were also invited to attend.
The sessions were conducted by experienced coaches and players from within our club in conjunction with the club’s professional coaching team.
The aim was to develop an understanding of good Goalkeeping and Freetaking across all our codes with pitch practical sessions enabling the attendees to try out and practise the lessons that were being taught.
Running over two Wednesdays and two Fridays in August, they were attended by 130 children and young people. We had a great response to this initiative with plenty of learning and insights gained each evening.
Many thanks to all who attended the four evenings, to the players and coaches, and a special word of thanks must go to our experts in their fields who gave of their time so generously.
