Our U13B Camogie travelled the short distance to St Annes on Sunday morning for the semi-final of their Championship, and what they knew would be a strong challenge. So it proved, as St Annes raced into an early 2 goal lead. Never daunted though, the Boden girls dug in, and went on to play a very strong first half matching Annes in every department and going in at the break 3:01 to 1:01 down – just 2 scores in it and well in contention.
The second half was played almost in its entirety in front of the Boden goal, but nevertheless the girls put on a magnificent display of defending – battling the Annes’ girls to a standstill as they laid siege to the Boden goal. Boden found it hard to lift the siege and break out though, but still managed to keep this high scoring Annes attack to just two more scores in the second half, which was unfortunately enough to see the game finish out as a 4:02 to 1:01 win for the hosts. The Boden girls left with heads held high though, having put on a very strong show for Boden’s U13B camogie, not just here but in their Championship campaign as a whole. Well done to all the girls, management, mentors and FLOs on a great journey.
