Ballyboden St. Endas would like to express its deepest condolence to the family of John Dempsey who has passed away.   A native of Clonmel, John was a nephew of Matt Dempsey from Kinnitty who served the club in many capacities including senior hurling manager when the club won Division 1 of the League for the first time in 1993.  That same year John was a key member of the ‘Boden intermediate hurling team (managed by Jimmy Galavan with Philip Ryan and Noel Sheridan) which brought an Corn Ceitinn to the club for the fifth time  The side trailed Round Tower by 10 points at half-time but rallied to claim victory by a point.  John becomes the fourth member of that squad to depart this world joining the company of Hughie Kivlehan, Mick O’Connor and Gerry Maher.  Two years earlier John was on the intermediate team that was pipped by a point in the championship final when a three goal blitz by Commercials in the last five minutes saw them snatch victory by 3-9 to 3-8.  John is remembered with great affection and he served the club nobly in the early years of the 1990s before moving from Dublin to take up a job offer.  He is survived by his wife Tracy, five children – Lauren, Jack, Lucy Jayne, Rory and Max and his extended family.  Leaba i measc na naomh John.
