It was with huge shock and sadness that we learned of the death today of our friend, fellow club man and comrade-in-arms, Brendan Moran. Brendan was a man of huge integrity, passion, compassion and good humour, and he will be greatly missed by all in Ballyboden St. Enda’s. He was a true club person, remarking on his election as Chairman that it was the highlight of his sporting career. A mark of the humility of the man is that he spent his first days as club chairman painting the pillars at the entrance to Páirc Uí Mhurchú. In his tenure as Chairman, Brendan sowed seeds and built a culture within Ballyboden St. Enda’s the fruits of which will benefit the ‘Boden community for generations to come.
Brendan coached football teams in the club and latterly managed the senior B hurling team as well a being the board delegate for the hurling section. Everything Brendan did was done with great attention to detail, was done properly and was done to the very best of his ability. People easily recognised Brendans’ integrity and genuine good nature and he was universally loved by young and old within the club. I know that the players on the Senior B hurling team have huge regard and affection for Brendan Moran, and ‘Boden sidelines will not be the same in his absence.
We offer our condolences and sympathy to Brendan’s family on the loss of their dad, grandad and brother.
Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam.
Ciaran Maguire, Chairman
