After a long wait our breakfast morning finally returned on Saturday morning last as fundraiser for the adult hurlers and proved again to be a very sociable occasion. It has grown in strength each year and again this year we had young and old from all sections of the club enjoying the culinary skills of our own Paddy Brady. We cannot thank Paddy and his staff enough for sponsoring this event. Without his skills and organization this event just would not happenFrom throw in at 8.30am we had the early birds enjoying the “Full Irish” before the academy began and from there on, we had a continuous stream of members from all sections of the club. Whether you just wanted a cuppa and scone or indeed the many healthy options, all tastes were catered for. These were all served by a very willing and friendly group of Hurlers decked out in their fancy SuperValu/SSC tops. The paparazzi were also out in force led by the ever-present Cliona & Miriam, and what a great job Cliona did on social media on the lead up to the breakfast m morning

.

None of this is possible of course without a team of people behind the scenes. This was truly teamwork all round chaired by the very capable Mark Mellett and supported by so many others. I think we’d all agree the team did an excellent job and is now firmly in everyone’s diary for next year. However, I cannot let the moment pass without giving special mention to Simon Lambert and Shane Durkin who corralled all the senior players into position on Saturday morning and cracked the whip for ticket sales. And of course, Linda (or should I say Ms Dependable) as always keeping the food flowing and ensuring all stations were fully stocked with superb efficiency. What a great opportunity it was for our younger members to ‘meet and greet the Boden Hurling family’ in a somewhat unfamiliar setting. Whether it was James Madden serving the healthy option or Deano the toast expert or Adam Kelleher ah,,, just floating , they were always up for the photo-op. Other guys weren’t so lucky and got the short straw on wash-up but I hear Luke Corcoran was cracking the whip off camera. Finally, a big thank you to all our sponsors (see poster) many of whom has supported our breakfast morning each year. We truly appreciate your support, and we can only hope our members return the favour by supporting your business in the year ahead. Volunteerism is alive and thriving as proven with a very hands-on approach by so many people and if we can transfer this spirit of co-operation and support to the playing fields, I do believe we should have a year to remember.Best of luck to all club teams in the coming season and thanks again for your support on Saturday morning.Thanking you,John RyanHurling Chairman. Thanks to Clíona and Miriam for the photos.
