On Saturday morning last we hosted our third annual breakfast fundraiser for the adult hurlers and proved again to be a very sociable occasion. It has grown in strength each year and again this year we had young and old from all sections of the club enjoying the culinary skills of our own Paddy Brady. We cannot thank Paddy and his staff enough for sponsoring this event. Without his skills and organization this event just would not happen.
From 9am to 1pm the car park was packed and queues out the hallway for the Full Irish, The Continental, savoury or sweet or whatever took your fancy and topped off with numerous cups of coffee or tea. These were all served by a very willing and friendly group of hurlers decked out in their bibs and Boden colours. The paparazzi were also out in force led by the ever-present Clíona Mellett and we have the proof on all the various social media platforms. And what a great job Cliona did on Instagram etc on the lead up to the breakfast morning.
None of this is possible of course without a team of people behind the scenes. This was truly teamwork all round chaired by the very capable Mark Mellett and supported by so many others. I think we’d all agree the team did an excellent job and is now firmly in everyone’s diary for next year. However, I cannot let the moment pass without giving special mention to Simon Lambert who carolled all the senior players into position on Saturday morning and cracked the whip for ticket sales. Thanks again Simon and to all the lads for their support.
What a great opportunity it was for our younger members to ‘meet and greet the Boden Hurling family’ in a somewhat unfamiliar setting. Whether it was Conal Keaney serving coco-pops or James Madden buttering toast or Paul Ryan ah …. just floating, they were always up for the photo-op. Other guys weren’t so lucky and got the short straw on wash-up but I hear Ste O Conor was cracking the whip off camera.
Finally, a big thank you to all our sponsors many of whom have supported our breakfast morning each year. We truly appreciate your support and we can only hope our members return the favour by supporting your business in the year ahead.

Volunteerism is alive and thriving as proven with a very hands-on approach by so many people and if we can transfer this spirit of co-operation and support to the playing fields, I do believe we should have a year to remember.
Best of luck to all club teams in the coming season and thanks again for your support on Saturday morning.
Thanking you,
John Ryan
Hurling Chairman.
