First of all, we wish the Féile girls well for next weekend’s adventures – have a great weekend and hurl your hearts out – you’ll be fab !

It was a busy weekend for our Juvenile Camogie teams

Under 15’s v Fingallians

Pride of place goes to the under 15’s who won a highly entertaining encounter with Fingallians on Sunday morning. With the welcome addition of a few under 14’s to the squad Beth O’Neill captained the side to a well-deserved one point win. Having trailed by six points at the break a determined Fingallians dominated the early period of the second half. The first half Boden lead was erased and the north side club established a two point lead. A strong Boden fightback ensured victory by the narrowest possible margin. The game was book ended by two terrific goals – Alice Gell found the net early doors with a low stinging shot, and Blathnaid Slater raised the green flag with a wonderfully struck 45 with about 5 minutes to go. Congrats all round.

Under 16A’s v Naomh Jude & 16B’S v Naomh Barrog

The two under 16 squads had very differing fates this weekend. Playing side by side on the two Cherryfield pitches both games were won by significant scorelines.

The A’s ran out very comfortable winners against a Jude’s side that were never allowed to get into any form of rhythm, while the Boden side had one of those days where every pass went to hand. Movement on and off the ball was excellent and this side’s reputation as tenacious chasers of every ball was further enhanced. A very good day at the office.

The B’s meanwhile were at the wrong end of a six goal loss. How this happened remains a mystery as the game was ultra-competitive. Naomh Barrog (unbeaten all season) were a powerful, skillful unit – but our girls lived with them everywhere except on the scoreboard. This level of effort and skill will certainly be rewarded with good wins in future matches.

U-13 A League Naomh Mearnog 1-0 v BBSE 5-6 Portmarnock – 17/04/16

Sunday morning saw our u13A team cross the city to face Naomh Mearnog.

This was our third match in the league, and we were hoping to make up for the disappointment of last week, when we were undone by a couple of late goals.

We were bolstered by Leonie, Noami and Anna from the u-12s. The game began at a cracking pace and Lucy soon shook the net to settle any nerves, Goals followed from Julie and Jennifer, with points from Ellie, Jennifer and Mia (who was making a welcome return from injury). This left the half time score 3-3, the only reply from the opposition was a goal from a free.

In the second half our girls continued to take the game to Naomh Mearnog, and added 2-3 without reply to run out convincing winners

This was a real team performance. The defence as a unit played well, ably marshalled by Yvonne and Clodagh, and limited Naomh Mearnog to just one score. Erin and Julie put in massive shifts at midfield, while in attack Jennifer, Mia and Michaela really caught the eye.

All in all, “a good day at the office” for the girls.
