Ballyboden St. Endas 4 – 1                  Raheny 1 – 1

This was the second time these two teams met and once again it is with pleasure that I report that the spirit in which this final was played out was a credit to both teams. It was the definitive end to an excellent year’s performance from the Boden girls. Both teams were matched in many parts of the field but once again Boden had that fire power and accurate finishing of Emma Doyle and Dianaimh Greene who both notched up super goals in the first half. Raheny too had some fantastic solo efforts and their quick response to our opening goal was straight from the top drawer.
The second half handed over to Boden the strong wind advantage and it wasn’t long before we made it count with Emma scoring another fine goal and a point. The solo skills of Ciarra Ruddy once again showed the enormous talent within the group of players but it was the endless tenacity and overall effort of Shannen Egan that for me would give her the “Player of the match” award.
Grace O’Brien finished off the tally for Boden with another goal that started from the backs – through the mid field and on to the forwards. The match itself ended with Ballyboden 4.1 to Raheny 1.1 and again in what is a most welcome sight, the Raheny girls were quick to come over and congratulate Boden on their victory.
It was a fitting end to the year’s efforts – not only of the players – but the coaches Sinead McNeela, Jane Hogan and Ceara Nic Coitir who themselves have had more than a busy year but have devoted so much time and effort to this most promising group of girls.
A big thank you from this parent and I know I speak on behalf of all the parents – here’s to another good year.
