On Saturday 10th January we held our Christmas Tree collection service. We had printed off in excess of 15,000 flyers before Christmas. Then our army of volunteers walked off the Christmas turkey by delivering flyers to every house in the locality between 29th December & 3rd January.

We then waited for the response, and it quickly became apparent that our numbers this year would be significantly up on last year

Therefore we needed to recruit extra help for the collection day, and thankfully a good number of people gave up their time. We also learnt lessons from last year, and Yvonne & Rachel Walsh were working flat out throughout the day co-ordinationg which areas had been collected, which had not and also passing on the details of late texts and calls.

After the truck was filled for the final time, the car park was swept clean. Later we adjourned to the Bar to count the takings. Cathal ‘The Don’ O’ Regan is seen below with what he considers is his share of the takings!!

We collected 1,000 trees on Saturday, an increase of 50% on last year, a great success.

Many thanks again to everybody who assisted us this weekend and also with the flyer distribution. Thanks also to all our our local residents for their support.
