As some of you may be aware our neighbours in Éanna Basketball are having a dream season in the country’s top Basketball League. In a first for the club, Éanna’s senior team DBS Éanna, have earned themselves a place in the All-Ireland National Cup Final, which will be played in the National Basketball Arena Tallaght, this coming Saturday, 25th January. Their cup campaign saw them win on the road to current league leaders Belfast Star and then grind out a victory over Kieran Donaghy’s Tralee Warriors in a packed gym in Cork 2 weeks ago.

Éanna basketball have a strong connection to us here at Ballyboden St Enda’s with 3 players involved in the line up for Saturday night; Neil Lynch (captain), Thomas McCabe and Darren McGovern (head coach). Decorated Boden players Aran Waters and Michael Darragh MacAuley have also been known to tog out for Éanna!

This is without question the biggest game in the basketball calendar. It will be attended by a capacity crowd of 2,500 people and televised live on TG4 at 8pm. The final sold out in a record 2 minutes so the hottest place for non-ticket holders to watch it is the Boden hall! It promises to be a great night and the Éanna team and match goers will be joining us in Boden after the match regardless of the result.

We wish everyone at Éanna all the very best for the game.
