Declan Maguire Tournament
The Annual Declan Maguire Tournament takes place on St. Stephen’s Day at 11.15 am in Páirc Uí Mhurchú. This is the 17th Anniversary of the Tournament. Over the years it has become a real Boden tradition and brings together present and former “greats” to remember Declan and to also remember other club members at this special time of the year.
There will be two games. The opening game allows our “more mature” players (Over 35s) to see if they still have it against a selection of our Junior Hurlers. Players are asked to meet for this game at 10.15am. The second game is for those who consider themselves more than Junior Hurlers – it is up to the individual to decide if they meet the requirement to play at that elite level!! Players for this game should be there by 11.15am.
Just to clarify matters, your legality to play with a particular team depends on where you had your Christmas dinner… if you turn right leaving the club, you play with Rathfarnham…….if you turn left, you play with Firhouse……..but don’t worry, nobody will be checking!! Let’s hope that the numbers can turn up on the morning to remember Declan and other former players, to dust off the cobwebs and to meet with club members and friends at this special time of the year.
