Ballyboden St Endas C v Ballymun Kickhams, Wednesday 18th May 2022, Pairc Ciceam
The heavens opened up as our Adult Ladies C team completed their warm up ahead of an important League game V Ballymun Kickhams in Pairc Ciceam on Wednesday night (18th May). This was going to be a tough encounter as both sides had challenging starts to the League and were keen to register points on the Board. After an inspiring team talk the Ladies were set for action. And boy did they respond! Right from the get go every ball was contested but importantly we were winning the 50/50s. We turned possession into fine inter play and then some great scores. We had the elements at our back and headed into half time leading on a score of 2-8 to 0-2.
We knew Ballymun were not finished and would respond in the second half. They did with 4 points in the first 5 minutes. However our Ladies were not leaving this behind. With some incredible defence from the backs (too many blocks to count for the statistician) and a number of penetrating runs from both our full back and half back line, we started the score board ticking again. It was great to see our midfield duo cover for defence when they went forward and the forwards in turn turning opportunities into scores. Overall a really dogged, intensive and resilient performance where everybody put their bodies on the line and didn’t give an inch
A special word of mention to our Minor As, Bs and Under 16Bs players who were fantastic last night and indeed over the last few weeks. They have really stood up. Thank you ladies. Thanks also to their respective Management Teams for supporting us. Finally well done to all the ladies. A well deserved victory
