Junior A team finish strongly to reach final

BBSE 1 23 Lucan Sarsfield’s 1 14

It was a beautiful Sunday morning at PUM but the pitch was heavy going after much rainfall the previous night. The opposition, Lucan Sarsfield, had topped their group and made easy work of Skerries Harps in the quarter final. Ballyboden would meet their stiffest opposition of the year. Preparations had gone well and the squad were up for the challenge.

The first quarter saw it all square going into the water break with three points each, all of Lucan’s scores coming from frees. Lucan was on top in the second quarter and led at half-time 1 08 to 0 08. A crucial turning point came in the game shortly into the  second half when Lucan was awarded a penalty. Sharkey brought off a brilliant save low to his right to keep us in the game. Shortly after that a well taken goal by Chris Lambert made the score 1-16 to 1-10, with things looking good going into the last quarter. Lucan were then dealt a serious blow when they had a man sent off after a dangerous foul on Sean O’Donnell. Boden took full advantage winning the last quarter by 0-7 to 0-4 leaving the final score 1-23 to 1-14 in favour of Boden.
