Result: 0-10 to 1-10

The JAs gave their all in a great encounter against Skerries Harps in Pairc Ui Murchu on Sunday. Although we came up short, I couldn’t be prouder of this group of Men. Skerries are an Intermediate team and were lucky I guess to be heading back over the M50 with the win. As a team, we can learn a lot from the game. Press the opposition from the start, don’t give them the freedom to express themselves. Cut out the small lapses of concentration and we will be flying. I could see the bitter disappointment in all the players faces, they gave their all and emptied the tank but came up short. Young Ciaran Doyle kept his amazing scoring tally ticking over with eight points of the highest quality. Damian Kenny and Conor Deane chipping in with well taken points of their own.

Maybe if we had the oul VAR we would have been awarded, what I thought was a stonewall penalty when Kevin was taken down in the area. The referee had different ideas and awarded a free kick much to the amazement of the Boden bench. I can’t fault the men in their attitude. When a plan was executed in the team talk at half time, we came out with a different mindset. We pressed higher on their kickouts, we won much more breaking ball and took the game to Skerries. A lesson going forward.
We go back to the bread and butter now that is the league campaign. Games are going to come hard and fast now, no time to feel sorry for ourselves. That’s the beauty of it, the chance to lace  up the oul boots and go hard at it again is just around the corner. Another challenge for the JAs, bring it on!!
A special mention to John Kirwan for signing up to be our photographer on the day. The lads really appreciated it, many thanks John.
And finally, a huge thanks to our new sponsor AF Construction who have very kindly provided the team with a new set of jerseys and the Management with new tops. Go raibh mile maith agaibh agus
failte.
