Result: 2-09 to 3-10

A game that can only be described as a game of wasted opportunities by the home team. Playing on our home ground, Pairc Ui Murchu, we were hoping for a positive result. The game ebbed and flowed, they got in front, we pegged them back, a one point game at one stage. It had it all, high drama , a harsh penalty for Stars, a penalty not awarded to Boden. Andrew had two fine shots come back off the crossbar when any other day, they would have smashed into the back of the net. The breaking ball wasn’t going our way, lady luck was definitely favouring the visitors.

Despite making hard work of it, there were only a few points in it at half time. Andrew had a tally of 1-2 in the first thirty minutes with Carl Maloney chipping in with a point of his own. We were still in the game though and if we could be more composed in front of goal we had a chance.
The second half was a better affair altogether for Boden. Shane Tully got his goal after some brilliant build up play. Andrew tagged on three more points. We were more attacking, on the front foot more. Stars were awarded a very soft penalty, ours was waved away. A more blatant foul that left the Boden management scratching their heads. It was going to be one of those days unfortunately. When a Stars snap shot bounced around in the box, it seemed to hit of every player before the Stars forward stuck his toe out to put the ball in our net. A cruel blow after all the teams hard work. But the JBs kept going right to the final whistle. Definitely the win that got away from us. However we are still in the promotion play-off hunt. Our campaign is very much alive, our fate is in our own hands. Five league games left, we need a reaction to this loss against Na Fianna on Tuesday. Every game now is our all Ireland final. Bring it on. The JBs will fight right to the end, I know they will give their all for the cause.
