Finally, we have a winner to out Last Man Standing Competition which has been running since January. Each week, entrants picked a winning team and had to keep winning each week to stay in the competition.  Six entrants was left standing by mid May but 5 fell at the last hurdle leaving Mick Regan as Supreme Champion.

Those who know Mick will wonder how he did it? The answer is simple – he got help from his grandson Cian and, to be fair, was fullsome in his praise of Cian as he accepted the cheque for €500 in the club on Tuesday evening. ” I know nothing about soccer” he said, ” so what else could I do only ask an expert? I will, of course, reward Cian handsomely”

Jonathon Smith from Ernesto Coffee and Artisan Foods was on hand to present the cheque to Cian. Ernesto have a Coffee Shop and store in Rathmines and sponsored the event.  Also present was John Ryan, Chairman of the Hurling Section.  Emmett Pullan, who organised LMS was also present and the Hurling Section is most grateful to him for his efforts over the past few months.

Thanks to Clíona for taking the photos.
