Early on Bank Holiday Monday morning, it looked as if the weather may be out to spoil the day, however we need not have worried. This year St Martins of Wexford returned to defend their title, accompanied from Wexford by Cranford. We also had Na Piarsaigh from Cork and Athenry from Galway, and neighbours Cuala made up 2 Groups of 3 teams.

After the competitive Group games, the semi-final line-up saw a repeat of last years Final with Ballyboden v St Martins, while Athenry faced Cranford. Both games proved to be thrilling encounters, with Boden edging out St Martins by 2 points. IN the other semi, Cranford pipped Athenry by 1 point.

The final proved to be the game of the day. An early point for Cranford gave them a good start, but Boden replied with 3 of their own to lead by 2 points at half time. The second half was an all action affair, with Boden ahead by 1 point with a few minutes remaining. However, Cranford would not be denied and a terrific late goal saw them lift the Cup.

The Cranford Captain & their mentors were very thankful to the hosts in their speeches, as were all of our visitors. It really was another terrific day.

Many thanks to all parents for the refreshments provided on the day, and to those who served the refreshments throughout the day. A special thank you to Catherine Nagle who organised the Blitz and ensured that our facilities were in terrific condition for our guests.
