• AFL Div.1 Seniors 2-13 Raheny 0-14 (report below)

Ballyboden extended their unbeaten run in Division 1 of the league with a hard fought victory over Raheny in St Anne’s park on Wednesday night. Despite conceding the first two scores of the game Boden got into their stride thanks to a well taken goal from Darren O Reilly and pushed on from there to lead 1-7 to 05 at half time. The weather was one of the many obstacles that Boden had to overcome in the second half and just when they seemed to be under a bit of pressure, a well worked breakaway goal by Andy Kerin helped them to see out the game on a final score line of 2-13 to 14 points.

  • AFL Div.4 Inters 1-13 St.Finians 2-10
  • AFL Div.5 Junior A 0-09 St.Maurs 2-16
  • AFL Div.9 Junior B 2-04 St.Pats Donabate 2-16

The conditions were perfect for this league encounter in Ballycullen. On a warm balmy evening the game begun at a high tempo. Pats were quick off the mark, registering 4 unanswered points. Playing against the wind Bodens defence had to work hard to stem the Pats attack. Niall O Connor and Neil Lynch worked well together in the middle of the park to feed Dara Shovlin, who rounded the Pats defence and slotted in the back of the net. Ross Traynor and Anthony Manning worked hard to break down the Pats attack and were ably assisted by James McTernan. Niall Bradley fielded a high ball and immediatly switched play, making a pinpoint pass to Lynch, who still had a lot of work to do beating two defenders and smashed the ball into the bottom corner of the Pats net. Boden were a lot sharper in the second half. Mikey Ryan was denied by some fine goalkeeping from the Pats keeper. Colum Reade was excellent up front scoring two sweetly taken points. Unfortunately Pats scored two goals but this Boden team never gave up and took the game to them. Shovlin took his point well and worked tirelessly for his team-mates. Some of Bodens link up play was a joy to see, however time ran out and Pats ran out eventual winners. Up next is Championship and I have no doubt this great team will respond in the proper manner.
