The Beast from the East may be on the way, but last Sunday at 11am in Ballycullen, conditions were near perfect for the opening league game of 2018. Castleknock started the stronger but good defending by Alex Craven at number 3 and Daire Lynch at number 6 meant the visitors superior possession didn’t have an impact on the score board. When ‘Boden finally got going, they made great use of their possession finding the net on three occasions in the first half. The pick of them coming from the foot of Joe McGrath after a good probing run from Brendan Kavanagh at centre forward.
The second half saw our lads really taking control of the game with the inside forward line of Daragh O’Neill, Cian Corcoran and the highly energetic Patrick Molloy tormenting the Castleknock backs with run after run leading to score after score. There was a late flurry from the visitors but the game ended with their being no doubt about who the best team on display were.
