Minor C Team put on Power Display  (Limerick Layder Reports)

On a bright and fresh sunny sunday morning in S Maria (all weather) our Minor C hurling team played NaFianna B’s in a div 5 league match. In front of our best crowd of the season the lads showed their worth to all and sundry, including the attending Minor A and B team mentors. The team consisted of a combination of 1st and 2nd year minors, 2 under 16’s and 2 strapping under 15’s.

From the throw in the lads looked sharp and early scores from Joe Duff settled us down. Our full back Joe McGrath read the game well and hit loads of fine clearances along with goalkeeper Matthew Nolan (who also blocked a rake off shots),  the corner men Sean Mahon and Hugh Kelly were tight, the half backs of Oisin ‘the Tiger’ Murray, Eoin Dennehy at 6 and Eoin Fetherstone (motm) were supreme.  At midfield captain Cathal O’Tuile & Kevin McGrath worked well and covered acres of ground.  The forwards ably led by Martin Ryan at no 11, Joe Duff, Mark Agnew, James O’Reilly and Sean Gorman made valuable contributions. Our 2 towering u15’s Cian Corcoran & Peter Gannon added great height and scoring ability when introduced as 2nd half subs and helped put the game beyond doubt, finishing up 6-10 to 2-7.  All in all a great performance and a great result.

p.s.  It’s no coincidence that our best performance aligned with our best crowd of the season, so pencil in our next home match against table toppers St Sylvester on 15 May @ 11.00am….it’s going to be Tropic!
