Art by Lucy U9 Girls

On March 1st, we began the roll out of the One Good Club initiative, a 5 step Mental Health Awareness programme with Jigsaw, in association the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and Lidl.

CONNECT is the 1st Theme and we have been busy doing just that for these 2 weeks.

We asked our younger members to take part in an Art Competition and display their pictures in the windows in the front of their homes. The drawings are on view for members of our club and the neighbourhood to see while out walking. A virtual, creative way to stay connected and the fantastic prize of a training session with our senior players awaits the artist of the winning picture of each code. A lovely peixe which connect the younger and more senior players of our club.

Members were asked to write a letter or send a post card to residents of five local resident care homes. An Post have offered free post to Nursing Homes until March 31st. When we spoke to the activity departments in each residence, they were delighted with the idea and were looking forward to receiving the letters.

On hearing about this activity, done of our local primary and secondary schools have also got on board thereby extending the reach and the connection.

We felt that reaching out to the most vulnerable in the wider community would be a great way to tap into the great sense of goodwill and community in our club.

Jigsaw Live Chat is a new way to get support if you are aged between 12-25 years of age. With over 1000 members in this age group in Ballyboden St Enda’s, we have shared the Jigsaw link for anyone struggling at the moment with mental health issues and who need the support that’s right for them. Bake with Hannah Hyland

A fun idea for a team or Committee to meet over  zoom to bake along with their team or colleagues. We are looking forward to seeing the photos from our budding chefs, both at work and with the finished products.

For ingredients and baking demonstration with Hannah, see here

Photos for all activities can be emailed to [email protected]
