Result: 2 – 4 to 1 – 3

Ballyboden St. Endas  2-04 St. Vincents  1-03

An outstanding performance by our Senior A Camogie team saw the first bit of silverware for 2008 enter the club last Sunday. Terrible weather conditions could have hampered the game but the girls, led by captain Roisin Keaney, played with great determination and heart. It was a day where the younger players to the panel had to prove themselves……….and they did. Great performances by Paula McGrath, Sharon Glynn, Jane Nolan and Dearbhla Brennan aided this team to a successful result. Caoilfhionn Ní Neill was outstanding in the forward line, fighting for everything and setting up some crucial scores. Further positive performances were registered by Elaine Hickey, Anne Griffin and Darrelle Dolan. All getting themselves on the score sheet.

Defence, led by goalkeeper Sile Nic Coitir, were very busy in the second half. Vincents piled on the pressure but the girls stood strong. Important clearances from Orla Smith, Fiona Hughes, Roisin Keaney and Ciara Blair saw off the numerous attacks by the opposition. An overall magnificent performance in goals by Sile Nic Coitir once again. Several outstanding saves kept the opposition behind as fulltime loomed. As the substitutes entered the game they too proved themselves with great performances by Cliodhna McNamara, Emer Lucey and Aoife O’Leary, showing that it takes a whole panel to win a final.
