It has been a busy 2 weeks for this Senior B camogie team as they hosted their opponents St. Vincent’s in this, their first game of the Inter 1 league cup. However, this was actually the 4th game these girls have played in a fortnight, as they have also competed in 3 games in the Leinster league, taking maximum points from all 3!
So it was on the main stage in Pairc Ui Mhurchu on a bright and pleasant Sunday early afternoon that the first league game threw in and we were off! Nothing less than a physical encounter was expected from our Northside opponents and true to form they got the better start running in 2:3 to 0:2 by half time. The Boden girls were under no illusions that the 2nd half would be a battle and battle they did, enjoying better spells of possession & territory, chipping away at the score deficit bring it back to 3 pts with a few minutes to go whilst keeping their opponents scoreless to that point. Alas, time was the ultimate enemy and the final whistle sounded, ending the great momentum and comeback that the girls worked so hard to create. The final score of 2:4 to 0:6 doesn’t fully reflect the effort from the Boden girls but plenty of positives to be drawn nonetheless.
Many thanks and well done to our U16’s Millie & Ruby for providing cover on the line and playing their part on field.
Leinster League action
The Leinster League competition runs early every season before the county leagues get underway. It is a good opportunity to get some competitive matches against teams from other counties and the Senior B Camogie team took the opportunity to enter the Intermediate Level competition.
So far the girls got the better of Danesfort from Kilkenny along with Naas followed by another victory over Skerries in mid-week. It has been a great way to integrate some new players – Neasa Codd is pictured putting her body on the line for the cause and PJ has set up a GoFundme page to get here a replacement hurl! Thanks as always to Miriam Christie for capturing the action.
