After a great finish to 2015 by winning the Division 3 Championship against the same opposition, this was always going to be a difficult first outing for the B’s. We have many changes in personnel from last years panel including the addition of 5 girls from last years U16A side.
Crokes made their physical supremacy count in many areas and picked off some fine scores. The Boden girls struggled for scores in the first half, but Darina Ryan showed great accuracy from placed balls as she put over 4 points in the first half. During the course of the first half Eadainn Walsh made a welcome return to Camogie after a 4 year sabbatical, and she grew stronger as the game progressed.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with the near full strength Crokes side eager to set down a marker for the year ahead. The Boden girls kept going throughout the second half with fine goals from Amy Holmes & Eve O’ Donoghue, and another point from Darina. A few late goal scoring chances went astray that would have put a closer look to the final score. A special mention to the 4 girls who doubled up after playing earlier for the A’s, and also to Ciara O’ Neill who performed very well in goal, despite being over-worked!
