Boden got off to a flying start with three points in the first 10 minutes from Warren Egan (mark), Ciarán O’Reilly and Daire Sweeney (free). Then in the 12th minute, Ryan O’Dwyer finished expertly to the back of the Raheny net following a good pass from Shane Clayton. A minute later, Raheny got their first score when they converted a free. Robbie O’Reilly and Raheny exchanged points before Donogh McCabe and Daire Sweeney added to the visitor’s score. In between these two points, Darragh Gogan made a great save to prevent a certain goal for the home team. Raheny converted another free and again Darragh Gogan was called on to keep out another goal effort. Darren O’Reilly finished the scoring with a left-footed strike from distance to leave the half time score at 1 – 7 to 0 – 3.
The second half was dominated for the first 15 minutes by the visitors. In the first minute, Daire Sweeney popped over a point after good work by Ciarán O’Reilly. Ciarán Duggan, Robbie O’Reilly, Daire Sweeney, and Ryan O’Dwyer added a point each before Warren Egan carried the ball forward, played a one-two with Ryan O’Dwyer, and then finished to the net. Ciarán O’Reilly and Donogh McCabe added points before Raheny got their first score of the second half with 17 minutes gone. Mikey Dunne came on as a sub and, with his first touch, finished to the net. Raheny were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes, but Darragh Gogan guessed correctly and made a good save. Although the ball broke to a Raheny forward, Darragh saved again before the referee awarded a free to Raheny which they converted. Raheny added two more points (1 free) and as full-time approached Darragh Gogan was called on again to make another good save to deny Raheny a goal. As the game entered added time, Ciaran Duggan passed to Luke O’Donoghue who scored and Darren O’Reilly sent over the last point for Boden.
