Ballyboden St. Enda’s 0-23  Erin’s Isle 2-11
Páirc Uí Mhurchú was the venue for the latest installment in Boden’s intermediate league odyssey. This time the opponent’s came in the form of Erin’s Isle against whom there have been close encounters in recent years. With a contingent in Thailand and others scattered around the globe the squad welcomed some new additions – the introductory pleasantries were duly made and the lads were initiated.
On a fine evening with an attendance boosted by the earlier “Master’s” exhibition Ballyboden were first out of the blocks with early points from Ev and Bagsie. Isles responded in the fifth minute before Boden rattled off four points in a row from Bagsie, Batesy, John Mc and Ciaran leaving the score six points to one in favour of the home team. Boden were moving the ball well and creating chances but appeared tentative at times in defence. For this they were duly punished when hit the back of the net in the fifteenth minute. All of a sudden it was game on. Ciaran tapped over a point in the 23rd minute but this was immediately responded to by Isles who hit 1-1 leaving the home team in arrears by a point; 0-7 to 2-2.  While Boden hit the remaining four points of the half the period was marked by some outstanding saves from the Isle’s keeper who kept them in the game. The four points came from John Mc, Ciaran, Cian and big Robert making his debut for the Inters. At the break it was 0-11 to 2-2.
The second half took off where the first had ended with both teams trading points. It was a fast free-flowing game and the heat was beginning to take it’s toll. Jamesie was the first to get the curly finger when he was replaced by the dynamic Conor. Fortunately the scoreboard continued to tick over with points – the Isle’s keeper maintained his fine form with more superb goalkeeping.  Archie, Shambo, Enda and Joey entered the fray to rejuvenate the attack.
Little has been said about the defence who improved as the game went on. Chief among outstanding defenders was Tommy Burke who deservedly enjoyed his best game in a Boden jersey. Whatever he’s on we all want some of it. (Tommy by the way is a very dedicated and clean living young man). Karl Reddy and Fionn worked hard to contain the nippy corner forwards. Others who impressed were Davey and Luke in the middle aided and abetted by the sharp-shooting Ruairí who hit 0-5 on the day. Ste in goal also delivered a fine commanding performance.

St. Brigid’s 2-11 Ballyboden St. Enda’s 2-16

The astro in Russell Park was the venue for the Boden intermediate team’s midweek journey up the M50 in Division 3 (our host’s main pitch lay has been re-seeded and the other pitches were in use). The fine balmy evening descended into a monsoon-like deluge as both teams began warming up. Both teams were tentative in the early minutes trying to get to grips with the poor underfoot conditions.
Unfortunately the notebook from the game has gone missing but we won.
We normally don’t single out anyone but Chill and Jamesie had a big influence on the game, Archie for his half-time team talk and Ciaran and Lewis for delivering on the scoreboard. Mark also knocked over a 45′. After a spell of possession lasting about 3 minutes Batesy topped it off by tapping over a point. A hard fought win that shouldn’t have been.
