Ballyboden St Endas U-13A ladies footballers are the county champions following a dramatic extra time victory over Foxrock-Cabinteely. This was a game of high quality played on Cuala’s pitch in Meadowvale, Cabinteely. Both teams went at it hammer and tongs from the opening whistle in what were horrible weather conditions.

As the rain eased and the sun broke through the clouds, the Boden ladies gained an early advantage on the scoreboard mostly through the accurate shooting of ace markswoman Jennifer. Our back division and midfield were working extremely hard to keep out the dangerous Fox-Cab counter attacks from deep.

At half time Boden had a slender advantage on the scoreboard and changes were made giving all our subs some game time. Boden dominated the first segment of the second half and had a 4 point lead thanks mainly to a timely opportunist goal from Michaela.

However, Fox-Cab showed their quality by shooting 5 points in a row to take the lead as the clock was ticking towards the hour mark.
Cometh the hour, cometh the girl and it was captain fantastic Jennifer with a late 30-yard free to send this epic contest to added time. The girls got into a huddle and promised each other that they would leave every ounce of energy on the pitch in the extra 20 minutes.

They didn’t disappoint their large following as they went on to reach new heights of endeavor and deservedly won the match on a scoreline of BBSE 1-13 Fox-Cab 0-12.
