Under 13 Camogie Trip to St. John’s of Belfast.

AnchorSt. John’s of Belfast was the destination for the under 13 Camogie Squad last weekend. John’s provided a warm welcome and the long association between the two clubs was very obvious – many of the girls’ parents had visited Boden with their older children in both hurling and camogie and it was very apparent that they hold our club in high esteem. This set an excellent atmosphere from the outset, and it was clear that our day was going to be a great success.

On the field Boden played a mixture of the A and B squads (with guest appearances from a few footballers who came along for the trip !!) and rotated the bench regularly on what was a cold and damp pitch. Dominant throughout the first half Boden built a healthy lead with the help of a stiff breeze.  A strong second half comeback by Naomh Eoin saw them finish one point winners.

St. John’s put on a great spread of food and Anne Jackson (Camogie Chairperson St. John’s) had a lovely few words of praise for our girls. Diarmuid Fitzgerald and Ciara Duffy (Captain for the trip) replied on behalf of Boden and invited the girls down in the near future.

The serious business of the game over the team headed to Dundonald for ice-skating, ten-pin bowling and a meal. An exhausted gang arrived back to the club shortly after nine.
