U15 Girls Division 2 League Champions!********************************************** After an impressive win two days previously against Castleknock GAA, the U15A girls played their last league game on Saturday at Ticknick Park against Foxrock Cabinteely. The 15 min walk/hike to the pitch from the car park made for a decent warm up, albeit under the hot sun. A large pitch awaited us and we knew there’d be a lot of running required. A fast start gave us an early lead and it became evident early on that the BBSE girls were more than ready for the challenge! Excellent ball work, cover and defense in all positions left Foxcab trailing behind 1:8 to 0:2 by half time. More to do to see it out!Half time, and a chance to take on water in that hot sun with some reminders and instructions from their coaches, the girls attacked the 2nd half with similar focus and intent. Points from set pieces and running play left the girls hungry for more and then the goals followed soon after. Impressive driving runs by our midfielders gave us plenty of opportunity and the girls in the forward lines reaped the rewards. Our scorers numbered 10 across our panel, a real show of strength and ability. Thanks to the two u14 girls who came onboard to lend cover, they didn’t look out of place at all. The game finished 6:14 to 0:8. The BBSE girls have topped the league and have their sights on the Division 1 Championship. The coaches and FLOs would like to congratulate the girls on a brilliant league campaign that has seen them grow mentally and physically, in respect to their football. Thanks to Kevin Mulrooney for the match report and photograph. The U15 B team were also in a league decider in the weekend, playing away against Whitehall Colmcille. The first half was a tight affair with Whitehall shading it to go into the half time break 4 points ahead. Our girls roared into the second half and a goal cut the deficit to just one point with 10 mins to go. The Boden girls were beginning to dominate and all the play was in the opponent’s half but we just couldn’t land a killer blow. A late break by Whitehall resulted in a goal to effectively kill off our challenge and the final result was Boden 1-5 to Whitehall 3-6.
The improvement is clear to see across all the girls this year…. They came so close in Féile and the League, coming up just short in both. Overall it’s been a hugely successful and enjoyable campaign for players, coaches and FLOs and thanks to everyone involved. Thanks to Gavin O’Hara for the match report.
