The U10s turned out in huge numbers (53) to travel to Croke Park on Sunday to roar on their support for Natalia and Rachel as well as the rest of the Dublin Ladies.

The excitement of the trip started as soon as they boarded the double decker coach at the club house (who from their parents’ generation would have thought this would be such a big deal!!)

On entering Croke Park the girls took their seats right at the front of the Cusack Stand within touching distance of the hallowed turf. Emotions increased even more as both Natalia and Rachel nodded approvingly towards the girls from the parade. The girls hoped the show of support in their Ballyboden jerseys would spur them on.

Unfortunately it was not to be despite the huge effort of the Dublin team. The excitement on the day was palpable but the girls were really disappointed with the final result. You could sense from many of the girls there that they were asking themselves what would it take for them to be on that pitch some day. This is what dreams are made of.

The ultimate disappointment with the result was tempered somewhat by the stop at the sweet shop on the way home!

All in all a terrific experience for the girls and hopefully the first of many to come.

The coaches would like to thank the parents who helped with the supervision on the day – Orla Molloy, Aisling Power, Leonie Burke, Niamh Feely and Eamonn Reid,
