Ballyboden and Ballinteer St Johns played the 2013 U21 Hurling Championship semi-final in a windy Ballinteer Community School on Tuesday 25th February. Boden played against the elements in the first half and put in a good first quarter with the half back line led by Jamie Desmond and Conor Robinson repelling most Johns’ attacks. The key moment for Ballinteer came on 20 minutes when a fine ground stroke on a breaking ball made its way to the net. Half time Ballinteer 1-6  Boden 0-4.

Five points was not felt to be an insurmountable demand and a brace of Colm O’Neill frees set Boden on the way. However, St Johns battled well in the middle of the park and cleverly moved the ball forward. At the three-quarter mark, they had regained the five-point advantage. Boden pressed hard and made good use of the elements, Conor Dooley landing a free from 80 metres. However, despite Boden’s best efforts, the home team held out and the final scoreline read Boden 0-12 Ballinteer St Johns 1-13.
