Tobar Éanna – The Water Diviner Revisited

There has been a decided lack of water falling from above, so the ‘Boden crew went underground to find an alternative source.  After much research on the topic, much of it focused on sports clubs in South Dublin, Ballyboden took the decision to drill for water on the Firhouse Road and were very lucky to find a source at 21m.  It took just a few days to install a submersible pump and to pipe the water alongside the pitch in Páirc Uí Mhurchú right up to the clubhouse.  Currently the water is being used to water the pitch, but tests are ongoing with the intention of using this source for showers, toilets and hand-basins in the club house and dressing rooms.  This will have the benefit of reducing our water charges and providing us with an independent source of water into the future.

Well done to all involved in this initiative.  We still haven’t got a good answer to the question ‘how did they know where to drill’ but there are suspicions that the water-divining skills of Frank Brooks might have been behind that decision.
