Requirement to be Garda Vetted

In accordance with the rules of the GAA, LGFA & Camogie Association the following persons in Ballyboden St Enda’s must hold a current, valid Vetting Cert:

  • any person who carries out a role of responsibility in underage teams (such as coaching, managing, first aid, FLO, or supervision),
  • any person who carries out a role outlined in (i) above for an adult team that contains any player under 18 years of age,
  • referees of underage games,
  • anyone photographing underage teams, and
  • anyone organising activities or having responsibility for children or vulnerable adults

Children over the age of 16 and under the age of 18 can also apply to be Garda Vetted. In Ballyboden, all TY, summer camp and other youth coaches must hold a current, valid Vetting Cert.

How to apply for Garda Vetting

The steps for Garda Vetting are listed below.

Steps highlighted in Green must be completed by the applicant.

1. Collect documents needed for Application

2. Create & submit Application in Foireann portal

3. BBSE approves application in Foireann

4. GAA/LGFA/Camogie Assoc approves application in Foireann

5. National Vetting Bureau (NVB) sends email to applicant requesting additional information.

6. Applicant uploads additional information (passport number, list of all previous residential addresses) to NVB website.

7. NVB processes the Vetting Application & sends disclosure letter to the GAA/LGFA/Camogie Association.

8. GAA/LGFA/Camogie Association issues Vetting Cert via email to applicant and BBSE.

Garda Vetting Certs expire after 3 years. 3 months before expiry, the Cert holder will receive an automatic email notification that their Cert is due for renewal and they must apply for a new Cert as soon as possible if they still carry out one of the activities listed above. The procedure for applying for renewal of a Cert is the same as applying for your first Cert.
