Decision Weekend in Hurling Championships

This weekend sees all Six Adult team in action. For all except the Junior E team, it is the last of the Round Robin games.

Senior 1 finish the group stage knowing that at a minimum they have qualified for the Quarter Finals. A win or a draw would see us top the group and go straight to the semi-final. A loss to Na Fianna, in a repeat of the League Final, would need the calculator to decide on our final position in the group if Vincents beat Faughs.  In that scenario, three teams would be on equal points. Scoring difference between the three teams (Vincents, Na Fianna and BBSE) would determine the final positions. Let’s hope that won’t be necessary and a good Boden support might be vital in getting us over the line. The game at 3.30pm is at an ideal time, giving us all a chance to get back to one of the other games.

The Senior 2 team have a tasty game against local rivals, St. Judes.  Both teams have already qualified for the knock out phase.  A draw or a win will see Boden top the group and the reward of a semi-final. A loss means a second place in the group and a Quarter Final against the 3rd placed team in the other group.  Home venue of PUM should be a help but expect St. Judes to bring a huge crowd to this local Derby.

The Intermediate team travel to Monastery Road to play Round Towers.  Neither team can reach the Quarter Finals but both are guaranteed a play-off to avoid relegation. A win would see Boden play the fifth placed team in the other group… a loss means they potentially have a more difficult game as the losers play 4th in the other group.

The Junior B team are unbeaten going into their last group game against St. Vincents.  They have already qualified for a quarter final. A win will see them play the 4th team in the other group in the Quarter final. A loss will need the calculator again with huge variations on what might happen depending on other results.  They travel to Marino on Sunday morning.  As with the Senior 1 and Senior 2 teams, a win will make life easier.

The Junior E team currently top their group and can stay top by beating Kilmacud Crokes in their final group game on Sunday afternoon.  They are guaranteed a Quarter final in any event but a win gives them a game against fourth in the other group. A loss throws this group wide open with the calculator getting further use to determine placings.  This game is on Sunday afternoon in PUM.

The Junior H Championship is made up of two groups of 8.  We currently share top spot with St. Kevins-Killians.  We are in a good position but with 3 group games left, all teams are still in with a chance to qualify. They play Naomh Barróg in Sancta Maria on Sunday afternoon.

The Hurling Committee is appealing for a big turnout to support all our teams on Saturday and Sunday.   We expect a number of cliff hangers so that extra push from our supporters could make all the difference. All teams need and deserve your support. A good starting point for the weekend would be a trip to Parnell Park to see our Senior 1 team play at 3.30pm and then perhaps a return to headquarters to see the Senior 2 top of the table clash or even a trip to Monastery Road to give the Inters much needed support.
