Minor A ladies football start league with a win

The unexpected snowfall last Friday morning left our pitch co-ordinators clamouring like Wall St. traders over the now precious all-weather slots, in preparation for the weekend games. Luckily, the Minor A ladies’ football game still went ahead on Saturday evening in SM in a Div 1 clash with last year’s league winners, Clontarf.

The Boden girls got off to a strong start and dominated possession in the 1st quarter of the game, securing a handful of well worked points from play. Clontarf, as expected, came back into the game reducing Boden’s lead to 4pts by half-time.

It started more end-to-end in the 2nd half, with both teams swapping scores before the visitors found the net and with it, a new lease of energy, forcing the Boden girls to work that bit harder for possession. Showing some great team effort, the Boden girls pushed on in the final quarter and found the net twice to restore daylight between the teams. The final whistle sounded soon after, confirming a win and with it, a bit of payback over the side that beat us at the same venue in March last year. Well done girls!
