BBSE 3 29 Cuala 0 09

Tuarisc ón t-Iománaí ar an gClaí

Tháinig Cuala ar cuairt chuig Páirc Uí Mhurchú  tráthnóna Déardaoin gan mórán cur amach acu ar an bhfoireann óg seo ach faoin am a shéid an réiteoir an fheadóg don uair dheireanach thuig siad go mbeidh an fhoireann seo san iomaíocht ag deireadh an chraobhchomórtais seo i mbliana.

Unfortunately round one was a no show so our Junior E championship team was delighted to finally get our championship campaign on the road. A bright start was required on a pleasant Thursday evening and our young lads exploded to life with a fantastic display of hurling. The team found their range from early on and nothing that the Cuala side could do counteract the pace and skill of this young side.

A solid performance by Niall O’Neill in the goals who was well protected by a strong defence marshalled by Conor Murphy, Tom White, Seán Wall and Darragh Ó Nualláin. Alex Steward, Aodhán O’Reilly and Fionn Keating Mc Dermott covered a huge amount of ground and broke up the Cuala attack, particularly in the first half. Ciarán Kiely gave a strong performance on his return to championship hurling and Keelin Smith was excellent from the dead ball. Solid displays from Stephen Pullan and Mark McSharry up front gave the team a strong attacking platform. Second half goals from Daniel Daly and Jack Hutchinson put the score beyond doubt. Many thanks to Leon and Kevin (1-1) for stepping up to the plate for this fixture.

A fine display was rewarded with a couple of pints and the presentation of the Division 9 league trophy to our captain Thomas Culleton.

Beidh cluichí i bhfad níos deacra ann gan amhras ach ag deireadh thiar thall bhí muid iontach sásta leis an toradh. Agus muid ag dul abhaile bhí muid go léir ag déanamh iontais cé chomh maith is a bheadh an fhoireann seo dá dtiocfaidh siad ag traenáil ó am go chéile!
