On what can only be described as a dreadful evening to be outdoors, the Minor A girls hosted Fingallians in round 2 of div 1 league in SM on Monday 8th of April.

With the wind to their advantage, the Boden girls got off to the brighter start and for the first 15 mins looked the stronger side with some well taken scores including an early goal which seemed to help settle them quicker.  The visitors slowly played themselves back into the game by responding to the initial Boden threat and secured a few needed points from play (also finding the net) in the 2nd quarter, as both teams now swapped scores for the remainder of the half.

Fingallians, with the wind to their advantage in the 2nd half, continued the momentum they were building and they chipped away at the scoreboard with some well worked points (also, finding the net once more). Despite the wet conditions and slippery ball, the Boden girls worked hard to build some decent phases of possession, but thanks to a resilient Fingallians defence, they found it difficult to find scores of their own. Fingallians kept up the constant pressure and controlled their possession better than the hosts as the 2nd half wore on and proved too strong for the Boden girls in the end.

It can’t be underestimated how difficult the conditions were for both teams with the incessant rain and strengthening wind, so credit to both sets of players who worked tirelessly for the full 60 mins.
