Paudie Butler, National Hurling Development Director (right), will deliver coaching sessions in Ballyboden St Endas on the evening of Tuesday, February 5th.  The objective of the sessions will be the development of our club hurling and camogie coaches in the field.  This is an excellent opportunity for the club, and we need to ensure that as many of our coaches as possible avail of the opportunity.

There will be three sessions commencing at 6:30.  The sessions will be held on the all-weather pitch in Sancta Maria.

The second session at 7:30 will be on the all-weather pitch.  I’ve asked for 16 boys from U15 to minor and 10 girls from U16 to U18 to execute the drills.  We’ll have ten tyres there as requested.  We’re hoping that you’ll focus on the small, key things that can each make a 1% differnece to a player’s game, but, of course, we’ll bow to your greater expertise!

6:30 Session 1: Fundamentals.  This is targetted at coaches from nursery to U10 and at primary school teachers.  This will be a practical session and focusses on coaching the key, fundamental skills of hurling.  This element will take place in the Assembly Hall in Colaiste Eanna.

7:30 Session 2: Identifying & Coaching the marginal skills that would each make 1% improvement to key players.  This part will be on the All Weather Pitch in Sancta Maria.

This will be targetted at players from U14 to adult and will also be an active coaching session.  Responsibility for coach attendance in the various sections agreed as follows:

  • Camogie: Gerry O’Sullivan
  • Adult hurling: Emmet Pullan
  • Juvenile hurling: Ciaran Maguire
  • Secondary Schools: Colaiste Eanna, Colmcilles Community School, Firhouse Community College, Sancta Maria. Brian & Paul.

8:30 Session 3: Open forum review of coaching done on the field, discussion, Question & Answers with Paudie.  This part will take place in the Convent House in Sancta Maria.
