Naomh Mearnóg 0 13 Ballyboden St Endas 3 24.
Our Senior B Hurling team recorded a fine league win over Naomh Mearnóg on Sunday morning over in Portmarnock.
In the first half it was a very even contest and Ballyboden were a little fortunate to be leading by 10 points to 9 at half time. We had to battle hard to get our scores and Naomh Mearnóg did miss a number of scores through poor shooting.
However it was a different story after half time, and our team had the benefit of the breeze which got stronger as the game progressed. The team certainly upped their performance and in the end it was a comfortable win, which keeps us top of the league table on points difference.
Everyone of our forwards got on the scoreboard , which is very encouraging. However it was in defence, especially in the 1st half that the platform for our 2nd half display was established. A special mention goes here to Peter Buckeridge who had an outstanding game at full back and also to Joe McGrath who started in his 1st league match after completing his Leaving Cert studies and a brief visit to a place called Magaluf ! Very prominent up front were Shane Kennedy and Gavin Corrigan but all the forwards aided by our hard working midfield duo of Fionn Maguire & Collie O’Neill played well.
Our next match is on Wednesday 24th July in Ballycullen at 7.30 against a very strong Round Towers team and our team would appreciate all the support that we can get.
