Adult Cup Division One Ballyboden St Endas v Fingallians, Wednesday 5th July, Sancta Maria.
Fingallians were the visitors to Santa Maria last Wednesday for their senior ladies cup game v Ballyboden. We had beaten them comfortably in the league back in May scoring 9 goals in the process.

From the start the away team were determined that this would be no cakewalk even though we got an early advantage when Megan Dignam was fouled in the small square whereby Sarah Baines slotted the resultant penalty, soccer style, to the net.

Dignam was showing good form and scored a goal of her own on 8 mins but in fairness to Fingallians they were competitive and scored a goal of their own midway through the first half leaving just two points between the teams at the break.
Half Time: Boden 2.04 Fingallians 1.05
It was “nip and tuck” for the opening period of the second half with ‘Boden always leading but never pulling away from the dogged Northsiders. However a wonderfully constructed goal in the 15min, opening up their defence with quick movement of the ball, probably ended the game as a contest.

Hannah Hyland was the goal scorer and she got her second of the match 4mins from time putting somewhat of a gloss on proceeding with Boden ending up 11 point winners.

Final score: Ballyboden St Endas 4.08 Fingallians 1.06

Scorers: Hannah Hyland by 2.1, Sarah Baines 1.3, Megan Dignam 1.1, Ciara Ruddy 0.2 and Shauna Feely 0.1 point.

Adult Cup Division One Ballyboden St Endas v Na Fianna, Wednesday 28th June, Mobhi Road, Glasnevin

One has to wonder whether these Cup games are of much benefit to either teams as once more our Senior ladies footballers were emphatic winners last Wednesday against an under strength Na Fianna in Mobhi Rd.

We were also short a number of regulars and as stated before it gives an opportunity to give game time to players on the fringes or returning from injury.
Aoife Gogan was one such player having a runout for the first time in a number of weeks due to injury. Aoife ended up scoring 1.2 and had an excellent game.

Minor Emma Moran made her competitive Senior debut and was unlucky with a goal effort which fizzed just wide from an acute angle. The two Heavey sisters, Rachel and Lauren both came on as subs, Rachel scoring a point while goalkeeper Lauren equitted herself well between the posts, her kick outs being particularly impressive.

Ciara Ruddy, back from her travels and now fully back in her groove was outstanding at wing back and ended up with a personal tally of 3.1. Top scorer was again Natalia Hyland who was a real handful at full forward and is playing better than ever.

That said Na Fianna will be a different team come Championship time with 5 of their squad with Dublin Seniors at the moment.
As the saying goes” you can only play what’s in front of you”

Final score: Ballyboden St Endas 8.13 Na Fianna 3.07
Scorers: Natalia Hyland 3.6, Ciara Ruddy 3.1, Aoife Gogan 1.2, Sarah Baines 1.2, Claire Kirwan and Rachel Heavey 0.1 each.
