Dublin Ladies AIG Feile, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April.
Well done to all our U14 Feile Girls who despite the inclement weather competed superbly and more importantly enjoyed their day on Saturday 2nd April.Feile 2016 was the largest Feile competition organised to date by Dublin LGFA with 55 teams representing 44 clubs. Over the weekend more than 1,300 players showcased their marvellous talent and skills as footballers.
The Feile experience started early when on Friday night, 80 odd girls collected their Feile bags and gear in the club hall. There was great excitment as the girls changed into their new tracksuits for the group photo. Ger Flaherty of Rathfarnham Credit Union, who kindly sponsored the kit, was on hand to present the Feile gear to the girls. He was introduced by outgoing Club Chairman Brendan Moran who gave the players some good advice and wished the girls luck.
A Very Well Done to the girls of the C team who made it through to the Semi-final and were Final bound until a goal in the dying minute of the game crushed their dreams and they lost by a point. A heartbreaking end to their great day! They were hosted by eventual Division 8 Winners St Monica’s in Edenmore.
Our A Team was hosted by Kilmacud Crokes in Silver Park and were unfortunate to have both the eventual Finalists Lucan Sarsfields and Na Fianna in their group stage of 4 teams. Many thanks to Knocklyon Scouts for the kind use of their mess tent which provided great shelter throughout the very wet day in Leopardstown.
Our B girls had an arduous task of competing in a single group of 6 teams in St Anne’s of Bohernabreena. This meant 5 matches between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Despite playing their hearts out and giving it their all, they didnt emerge from the group.
The girls did their families and Ballyboden proud on and off the pitch on Saturday and ended the day with smiles on their faces and lasting memories of a great Feile day.
Many thanks to the mentors who prepared the girls so well, the organising Feile committee, the club, Rathfarnham Credit Union, parents who support the girls week in, week out and to the families and friends who turned out in such great numbers to cheer on the girls.
