The Senior footballers took on Raheny in PUM on Saturday evening and despite missing a host of key players put in a solid performance coming out comfortable winners by 1-11 to 0-08. There were some strong performances throughout the team especially Conor Dooley in goal who denied Raheny two almost certain goals late in the game. The team are well placed in second position in the League after 4 games. A speedy recovery to Ryan Basquel after his injury in training last week.

Inters Match report – Inters 1-10 Trinity Gaels 1-16

Playing down the hill and with the help of a slight breeze, a strong start from Ballyboden saw them produce their best 1st half performance so far this season. With Mark Fitzgerald leading from the back Boden produced some good team play to earn their half time lead of 1-5 to 0-6. Two points from Adam Carney, the first a converted free kick from wide on the left after a foul on Justin Owens and the second from play after again good set up work by Owens settled the side early on. A well taken goal from Brian Devlin from a Carl Molony pass after a fine piece of team play mid way through the half saw Boden extend their lead. A point from Gavin O’Gara from distance (estimated by Gav to be about 80 metres…..and that was just the height!!) was added to by Barry Higgins after patient play down the right and a converted 45 by Carl Molony completed the first half scoring. Boden had the opportunity to extend the lead further but failed to convert another goal chance after an excellent driving run from Dara Kilduff. Trinity Gaels however stayed in touch and always looked dangerous once the ball was moved to their half forward line.

The second half produced a reversal in fortunes with Trinity Gaels levelling with 2 points early on. A point from David O’Brien, who was doing a great marking job on his man, and a further point from play by Carl Molony after an interception kept Boden in the game up to the 45 minute mark.  However Trinity Gaels then produced the game breaking score when winning turnover ball on their half back line and scoring the decisive goal against an exposed full back line after Boden overcommitted numbers forward. Injuries to Brian Devlin, David O’Brien and Shane Hogan did not help matters. Despite a further 3 points from frees by Carl Molony and great contributions from Alan McGrath and our minors, James O’Connor, Cillian Donoghue, Brian Kirwan and Ross McGrath, Boden came up short at the end after Gaels completed the scoring with some well taken points.
