Result: 0-04 to 3-10

Bodens Junior Bs got off to the worst possible start with a heavy defeat to a slick and fast moving Plunkets side in Ballycullen on a dry but windy morning. With a great deal of confusion surrounding Bodens selection and player availability it didn’t look all that promising for the home side from the off. Plunkets raced in to an early lead and sped away from the home side with a series of well taken scores. Their first goal was however a tad fortuitous as a high speculative ball in to the Boden penalty area, resulted in the ball hitting off a head of a competing player and going in to the net. When you’re having a bad day, this is the way things go.

Well ahead at half time the visitors thought they were going to run up another big score in the second half. The home side had other ideas, regrouped and came out fighting. Everybody worked hard and Plunkets found life a lot tougher in the second period. Boden were more organised and gave as good as they got. This team will move on and improve. Having lost a lot of their key players from last year there is new blood coming in and will need a bit of time to settle in. With still more lads to come back from injuries and other sports, this side will progress throughout the year.

The next fixture is away to our near neighbours St Annes and it will be another tough encounter.
