Boden were slow to get started on this occasion with Cuala scoring some beautiful long range points to put them four to the good. Eventually our guys got more into the rhythm of the game and tightened up the marking in the centre third. Michael Boland was on the mark with three points from frees. Other well taken points from Aaron Coffey, Cian Murray and two superb goals from Boland and Rob Byrne left the half-time score of 2-7 to 0-11 in favour of Boden.
Cuala started the second half with a bang and soon had notched up a goal and two points to leave them ahead by three. Our defence was under severe pressure but dealt with it exceptionally well. Neil Hestor was mopping up a lot of ball in the centre and Cillian Byrne was outstanding at midfield. The work rate shown by all was now very encouraging and it was only a matter of time when the breaks would come. And they did. Aiden Mellet who was covering a huge amount of ground and a constant thorn in Cuala’s defence tore through three defenders and crashed the ball to the net. Further scores from Cillian Byrne, Michael Boland, Conor Kennedy and a goal from Aaron Coffey left the full time score 4-12 to 1-15 in favour of Boden.
