Result: 2-09 to 2-11

Minor ‘A’ Football Championship Group 1: Kilmacud Crokes 2-11, Ballyboden St Enda’s 2-09

This was Boden’s first outing in the Championship as they had a bye in the first round of this five team group. As always with Kilmacud this was going to be a close game. Boden started into the wind and got off to a great start with a goal by Barton. A shot from Weldon hung in the air  and Barton challenged the keeper and punched into the net. Boden continued this good start adding more points. However Kilmacud clawed their way back into the game with a late goal and some well taken points including five frees. HT: BBSE 1-04, Kilmacud Crokes 1-08.

The second half was close again with both sides battling hard and limiting the others scoring opportunities. However a few well taken scores and a lack of concentration allowed Kilmacud in for their second goal to put Crokes six points up. Boden were creating scoring opportunities but unfortunately not converting. A late penalty, put calmly away by McGarry brought it back to two points but time had run out. Boden now face St. Brigids away Russell Park in two.

Today was not Boden’s but many positives can be taken from this performance.
