The Minor Football Division 1 League campaign continued on Sunday morning with the visit of Lucan Sarsfields to Pairc Úi Murchu which was in superb condition considering the heatwave. The Ballyboden team settled well with points from John McGinn and a goal from Jacques Dalton to take an early lead. Lucan replied with 3 points but great defensive play from Cillian Kirwan and Sean O’Donnell kept chances to a minimum with Adam Farrell making one superb save from a Lucan attack. Mark Walsh and Conor Lowe were doing well in midfield and 2 well taken goals from Peter Gannon and Conor Lowe left Boden leading at half time by 3.04 to 0.05 for Lucan.
The second half began with well taken points from John McGinn and Jacques Dalton finished a great move with a well taken goal for Boden. Lucan replied with some well taken points and a goal. Peter Gannon replied with 2 well taken points before Mark Walsh finished superbly for Boden’s fifth goal to give the home team a comfortable cushion entering the final 10 minutes. Jack Kenny and Evan Cullen worked superbly to limit chances for Lucan who continued to add some points from play and frees.
Joey Donohoe and Alex Craven worked very hard at corner back to ensure there was nothing easy for the Lucan Forwards. On a very warm day, the introduction of Brendan Kavanagh, Enda Cashman and Pearce Christie from the bench kept the momentum going in the second half. Great credit is due to both teams for the football played in very warm conditions with the water break in each half very important on the day.
The next match is away against St Sylvesters on Wednesday July 8th. Thanks to the parents and Boden supporters who gave great encouragement to the team throughout the match. Special thanks to the club members responsible for the maintenance of the pitch especially in the dry weather.
