Ballyboden Division 4 Minor footballers made a winning start to their League campaign with a hard-fought win away to Crumlin on Sunday morning. In the absence of the regular goalkeeper Alex Whelan started between the posts and acquitted himself very well. The early exchanges were even but as the half progressed Crumlin began to get on top. At the break the home team led by 7 points with a score line of 5-5 to 2-7.
A masterful tactical switch by the management team at half time saw Liam McPhaidin go into goal and Alex Whelan coming out to shore up the half back line. Liam made some super saves and the whole team raised their game and restricted a physical Crumlin side to 1 point in the second half. Boden went on to win by 4 points.
