Senior B vs Raheny 21.4.22 PUM – by Brian Deignan

Looking for our first win of the league campaign and reeling after a disappointing loss to Naomh Bríd the week previous, team captain Aoife made it very clear in the team’s pre match talk that this game was not going to be left behind and a victory over our visitors was the only option on the table.

Raheny were quick off the blocks and registered 1:01 in the first 3 minutes of the game, not the start the Boden girls had planned on. Ironically, this was just the motivation the girls needed and with heightened determination, they quickly settled into the game, drawing level by the 10th minute and really never looking back from that point.

Half time score: Boden 2:07 Raheny 1:03

The 1st half momentum was maintained into the 2nd half, the girls brought the same level of intensity through constant pressure on the opposition’s possession in all areas of the pitch and deservedly enjoyed the greater share of possession as a result. Eventually they ran out worthy winners. There was a clear sense of achievement at the final whistle, reward at last for all the effort this group of girls have put in to-date.

Final score: Boden 3:11 Raheny 2:04

Before throw-in, a minute’s silence was observed in honour of Kate Moran, Athenry, a young life so tragically cut short playing the game she loved. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Thanks again to Miriam for the match pics.

Next game is away to Whitehall Colmcilles, Thursday May 5th.
